This is the ultimate Mom Hack to use before those potentially stressful mom moments.
Let’s face it, life as a mom (and dad) is unpredictable, whether you’re raising a toddler or teen.
And every parent knows that there are also those everyday stressful or crazy moments, like during the morning rush, getting the kids off to school, or waiting in the endless school pick-up line.
So what do you do during those crazy moments?
Self-care expert Jody Agard shared with us her best mom hack for staying calm:
Changing the alarms on your phone to go off at various intervals throughout the day and tell you the things you most need to hear.
For example, I know that my toddler is a challenge when I pick him up at 2:00 after preschool. He drags his feet, stops to look at every bug in his path, and spends what feels like ages looking at the water feature near the parking lot.
With school pickup in the middle of the afternoon, I’m always in a hurry and ready to get back home so I can finish my work for the day. And the sometimes 30 minutes it takes to get him from the classroom to the parking lot makes me want to pull my hair out on occasion.
And then I tried this mom hack. It was a game-changer.
Every afternoon at 1:55 my alarm goes off with the phrase “have patience.”
That simple reminder helps me to take a step back, take a deep breath and have a little perspective.
You can literally set your phone to tell you anything you want at whatever time(s) you want.
Jody recommends the phrase “all is well,” but if you’re struggling to come up with ideas, take a look at this list of affirmations for kids that we put together. We included a list of 25 affirmations for parents as a bonus list.

Next, click on the plus button at the top right hand side of the screen. You’ll come to this screen:
Click on the word Alarm (the default text) across from Label. You’ll see this screen next:
Just click the “x” to the right of the word or backspace to delete and then replace with whatever you need to hear at that time. When you’re finished typing, hit the blue Done button and then set the alarm. When you’re finished, just save and you’re all set!
